The 4th of July an Independence conveys more than fireworks.
This July 4th, while the skies light up in celebration, may we not forget the quiet battles people still fight just to be seen, to be heard, and to feel safe.
Freedom is not a moment in history.
It’s a daily choice fought for in our homes, defended in our courts, protected in our workplaces, and nurtured in our minds.
As a woman of law, leadership, and heart, I believe in a kind of independence that never oppresses others to feel powerful.
The one that listens before it leads, that protects the voiceless rather than punishes them for speaking. So let today be more than a holiday.
Let it be a living reminder that liberty without justice is incomplete, inclusion is not optional, and that the most powerful nations are those that defend the softest voices.
